Frequently Asked Questions
How long is an EFT Session?
An EFT session takes approximately 1 hour either by telephone or on a face-to-face basis.
Do you tap on me?
No, not unless I feel it is necessary where upon I will ask permission. I instruct my clients how to tap on themselves as this makes it easier for them to learn the EFT process.
How does EFT work by Telephone?
EFT is no less effective when done by telephone. In fact, in some instances it can be invaluable. The therapist will instruct you where and how to tap. Experienced therapist’s listen to the variations in the voice, which happens naturally when emotion is present. It is ideal for the modern lifestyle, making EFT more accessible as many therapists, including me, will offer evening appointments. It also benefits people suffering with illness or a disability, who are unable to get out and about easily. As a therapist I have conducted extensive telephone EFT sessions for people as far away as Scotland. Also, whilst recovering from M.E, receiving the therapy by telephone was valuable, as I did not have to use additional energy having to get ready and travel to appointments. If only Dave and Ted knew I used to do the morning sessions in my pyjamas and slippers!!!!
They say EFT can be used on anything, surely this isn’t true?
Actually yes, it is. Because EFT works on our meridian system (our internal energy system), it can have amazing possibilities. I have personally seen and experienced wonderful benefits with EFT. I have seen physical complaints reduce and some completely disappear when working on a supposedly unconnected issue. I’ve used EFT on my dog for his fear of fireworks and loud ‘bangs’. It worked wonderfully and he now happily sleeps through the local firework displays. I’ve tapped on myself with the intention of helping my Grandfathers speech (he was a stroke victim and lost the ability to form words), and after just one session there was an improvement, which was noticeable to other family members. I love the quote by Alexander Graham Bell, “What the power is I cannot say, all I know is that it exists” I found it when I was new to EFT and it still strikes a cord today. I am a very logical person but I have witnessed wonderful benefits from EFT that I find hard to put a 'logical' answer to. * Health and safety note – please do not go away and start tapping on your pets/animals. There are techniques used for EFT on animals, as some animals may not be happy about you tapping on their faces or paws!
Does it matter which side I tap on or if I need to change arms whilst tapping?
No, you can tap on the side preferred and change hands during a tapping round. Results are not affected by this.
If EFT is this good, why doesn’t the NHS use it?
Well, the NHS is using the technique. EFT is used as an additional therapy to cognitive behaviour and counselling. However it is only in the odd department in a few trusts. More and more NHS nurses and therapists are coming across EFT and have seen results both on patients and themselves.
Are EFT's results due to either placebo effects or distraction?
No. Placebo effects require some belief in the process and this is rarely the case for newcomers to EFT. Also, although EFT may appear to be distracting, it will not work if the client is, in fact, distracted. That is why the client continually repeats a reminder phrase, which "tunes in" to the problem.
Important: Whilst EFT can produce some quite remarkable results, you must ultimately take responsibility for your own health and well-being. Under NO circumstances must you cease taking prescribed medication without your medical advisors approval.
